The 162.7cc air-cooled motor produces 15.9PS maximum power and 14.8Nm peak torque. The 150cc motorcycle has 1.4PS of full strength and 0.2Nm torque, more than Unicorn 160. The 5-pace gearbox transfers power to the rear wheel.

The engine’s excessive-revving nature means that you must feed the machine within the revs to get the power band to kick in. This is much like the better displacement Honda automobiles. For a 150cc bike, acceleration is acceptable. However, the CB Hornet 160R feels stretched above 90kmph, and vibes kick in via handlebars and pegs.
