The 150cc section can serve as a stepping-stone in terms of overall performance. The 150cc bikes combine performance, affordability, and efficiency. The Japanese -wheeler has had great success thanks to the Unicorn 160 and Honda Unicorn 160.
Design & Features
Buyers in the 150cc class need a motorbike that is stylish and efficient. Honda appears to have recognized this reality, and we must say that the Honda CB Hornet 160R hangs searching motorcycles.
One is welcome with a trapezoidal-shaped headlamp unit that has twin pilot lamps cleverly integrated. While the large tank and aggressive fuel tank extensions give the motorcycle an aggressive searching profile, the tank is huge. The Hornet 160 has a small posterior segment with split snatch rails, and an X-shaped LED Tail Lamp that makes it unique.
Multi-spoke alloy wheels, a stubby exhaust manifold, naked carbon end-on gasoline tank, and a center frame panel are some of the other highlights on this bike. The Unicorn 160’s all-digital console is an improvement, but a redesigned console might have been more appreciated.
Although fit and end are perfect, the switchgear feels old-fashioned and should be replaced. It is unacceptable that the engine kill switch on a top-quality motorbike has been left out. We also didn’t like the switchgear on the CB Hornet 160R. It could have been better.
Engine & Performance
The Honda CB Hornet 160 engine is identical to the Unicorn 160. However, the power plant has been modified to squeeze more power from it. The 162.7cc air-cooled motor produces 15.9PS maximum power and 14.8Nm peak torque. The 150cc motorcycle has 1.4PS of full strength and 0.2Nm torque, more than Unicorn 160. The 5-pace gearbox transfers power to the rear wheel.
The engine’s excessive-revving nature means that you must feed the machine within the revs to get the power band to kick in. This is much like the better displacement Honda automobiles. For a 150cc bike, acceleration is acceptable. However, the CB Hornet 160R feels stretched above 90kmph, and vibes kick in via handlebars and pegs. It is possible to accelerate in-tools, which is excellent for speeding up on the highways.
The 5-pace gearbox has a sluggish feel, especially in 1st and 2nd gears, similar to the Honda Unicorn160. However, the gear ratios have been clearly indicated for riders not riding in their own vehicles. Honda hasn’t released gas performance numbers for the Hornet 160. However, it is far more secure to expect a mileage of around 45kmpl.
Ride, Handling & Braking
The Honda CB Hornet 160R features a similar body design to the Unicorn 160. This motorcycle handles beautifully and dives into corners with great enthusiasm.
The 140mm segment chunky rear tire aids in improving the rider’s ability and tilting the bike. You will feel like you are riding a better displacement street bike if your riding posture is upright. The Hornet 160R has a mild rear-set footpeg, which blends well with the overall dynamics. Also, a toe-best tools shifter has been provided.
It is pretty uncomfortable to sit in the seats, and it is hard to grip the tank. The Honda 150cc bike features telescopic forks on the front and a mono-shock unit on the back. It is very comfortable and can take in undulations as well as damaged roads.
Petal disc brakes work at each end of the bike. The CBS model was our test motorcycle, and its braking performance improved significantly. They are perfect; however, they could have had more lever development.
Verdict
Honda has now created a new 150cc class motorbike segment, the CB Hornet 160R. It is a striking motorcycle with its sporty styling, chiseled strains, and attractive colors.
It’s also admirable in its performance and has decent fuel efficiency. Honda appears to have done it again. But, Honda will have to wait and see if the Japanese bike maker can provide them with the third chance at success.
